Global Interior Design London - Blog

Cersaie is the world’s most important bathroom design and tiling exhibition – it takes place every year in Bologna at the end of September or the beginning of October. I love checking out the latest trends and imagining what I can incorporate into my own bathroom design work in London and further afield.

This year’s exhibition was no disappointment. Bathroom designers from London and from across the globe convened to view the world’s most hip and progressive ceramic tile designs. A number of this year’s collections featured exquisitely tranquil reinterpretations of quintessential bathroom design styles. Many of the tiles presented a tint-on-hue concept, lending a velvety susurrate look to any bathroom design. What I loved the most was the true multipurpose nature of these enduring classics – they would fit just as perfectly in a charming country cottage bathroom design as they would in a modern shower room in an exquisitely decorated London flat.

Any account of the exhibition would be incomplete without at least one mention of Impronta Ceramiche’s Bianco Nero collection – a dream come true for the professional London bathroom designer. Reciprocity between black and white creates a stunning impact for fresh modern bathroom designs. Both floor and wall tiles are produced using robot control for the ultimate in precision near-invisible seams – perfect for detail-orientated London clients. The Nero wall tiles feature a bespoke counterpane-style allure that articulates some of the immutable character of the bathroom design process. The seam-free floor tiles echo an ancient time, but with a present-day freshness that I certainly hope to make use of in the near future for a contemporary London bathroom design.

A number of my London designer colleagues had the opportunity to attend this great exhibition and returned with glowing reports. Definitely something to put on next year's calendar.
